Taking the initiative: Forming a women's league at Knoxville Municipal

Knoxville Muni 18 shot

Some people like to play golf alone, but way more people want to play with friends. Knoxville resident Liz Jett wants to play with friends, too -- including friends she hasn't met yet.

The Powell Shopper features Jett and Knoxville Municipal Golf Course, the facility where Jett is looking to establish a women's golf league. Jett is hoping to attract 40 women to join her.

"It's much more fun to play golf with a group or teams of women than just two at a time," Jett said.

Jett is encouraging beginners to take up the game in the nine-hole league, saying, "It would be good for the women to come out and play for the exercise and fellowship."
