(RESTON, Va.) – With just under a month until the World’s Largest Golf Outing (WLGO) – the biggest U.S. charitable golf outing on one day – this year’s event has reached over $100,000 raised to Fisher House Foundation.
Since its inception in 2011, WLGO has raised over $4.1 million for military charities, including over $1 million for Fisher House in the last four years, giving military families free housing while their loved ones receive medical treatment at VA medical centers and military hospitals nationwide.
“The challenges of getting better via a traumatic injury or something less or something more, to have a residency available for family and friends to stay close to their loved ones and allow them to be close while they’re really focused on the important thing, which is healing,” Billy Casper Golf President Alex Elmore said. “That’s what Fisher House does… They’re an amazing organization.”
Over 1,400 players at 100-plus courses nationwide are registered so far to play in this year’s WLGO, all with the goal in supporting service members and their families.
