(RESTON, Va.) – In anticipation of the World’s Largest Golf Outing (WLGO) - the largest charity golf outing on a single day in the U.S. – a group of Billy Casper Golf California-based employees visited the Fisher House Foundation’s House near the VA Long Beach Healthcare System on Thursday, June 13.

“It was a remarkable experience for the entire group,” said Tom Prince, California regional sales and marketing director. “We saw how our efforts through WLGO can impact the lives of so many military members and their families. It truly was remarkable.”

Since WLGO’s inception in 2011, the nationwide event has raised over $4.1 million for military charities and over $1 million for Fisher House since 2016, with this year’s event taking place on Monday, Aug. 5 and already raising over $62,000.

While some Billy Casper Golf (BCG) courses have been partnered with WLGO since the beginning, many BCG courses, like Alhambra Golf Course in Alhambra, California, are excited to join WLGO for the first time – and jumped at the opportunity to visit the 16-bedroom house.

“The facility is beautiful, and the entire visit was very interesting,” Alhambra General Manager Fernando Vasquez said. “It was really cool to hear the stories in-person on how Fisher House impacts the lives of so military families. It gave me a first-hand experience that I can bring back to my staff and motivate them, so we can have a great first WLGO.”

Palm Desert Resort Country Club General Manager Phil Vigil, was impressed with the use of warm colors like to provide the “a home away from home” feeling for families residing in the house.

House Manager, Ivan Cikos, takes pride in providing an incredibly welcoming environment for all house guests — beginning with the extremely friendly staff giving the group “an eye-opening impact on the entire group,” according to Vigil.

“The staff conveyed themselves as employees of the Fisher House – not necessarily federal employees,” Vigil said. “Seeing the staff treat the residents with such care, it really inspires you to get more people to support a great event in WLGO and a great organization in Fisher House.”
