Atlanta is kind of big, so why not Rome out of town? Head to Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome, a little over an hour away to the northwest from East Lake in the heart of the city.
This Arthur Davis design is celebrating 20 years open in 2014. As you might imagine, the course features a variety of water hazards, as well as beautiful bridges connecting the property. The par-5 ninth is the course's signature hole, stretching to 532 yards from the championship tees.
WorldGolf.com said of Stonebridge, "Stunning scenery around the lake, and very nice on the fairways that play back into the woods, too. There are some homes along the course, but not so many that it seems like you're in a fishbowl. Not hard to get to from Atlanta, even though it's off the beaten path."
At $40 max to play, it's worth the trip.
