Spotlight: Ka'anapali Golf Courses

What was that old phrase: “wanna get away?”

With winter quickly approaching, people across America are looking for that perfect golf paradise to, well, get away for the weekend.

Stop the searches now, Ka’anapali Golf Courses is the answer.

A golf oasis on the western banks of Maui, Ka’anapali’s two 18-hole courses are spread over 300 acres of land once home to Hawaiian royalty.  Guests are treated to pristine conditions and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and West Maui Mountains.

Opened in 1962, the Royal Ka’anapali Course was designed by legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Sr.  It’s par-71, 6,700 layout is draped over undulated terrain and features wide fairways and contoured greens, making it both distinctive and demanding.  The tournament-tested layout hosted the Champions Tour Ka’anapali Classic for 14 years, Shell's Wonderful World of Golf, the Canada Cup and LPGA Kemper Open, welcoming golf greats like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Billy Casper, Greg Norman, Fred Couples, Jan Stephenson, Betsy King and others.

Complementing the Royal Ka’anapali is the modernized Ka’anapali Kai Course, which hosted Golf Channel’s “Big Break Ka’anapali.”  Extensviely renovated in 2005, the par-70, 6,400-yard layout boasts a plethora of bunkers, rolling fairways and resurfaced, smooth-as-butter greens.

Ka’anapali offers some great stay-and-play packages, perfect for that little weekend trip you’ve been planning!  And there’s more than golf at Ka’anapali, book a parasailing adventure or get an adrenilien rush with the Ka’anapali Zip Lines.  A hot stone massage at the Spa at Black Rock is soothing while snorkeling, whale watching and sunset cruises make for a wonderful day with the family.
