Royce Brook GC Wins NJSGA Senior Interclub Championship

Royce Brook NJSGA Senior Interclub

Congratulations to Royce Brook Golf Club (Hillsborough, N.J.) on winning the NJSGA Senior Interclub Championship held Oct. 23 at Metedeconk National Golf Club in Jackson, N.J!

Royce Brook won their section title in the 24-team Senior Interclub field to advance to the finals. The six section winners competed in a medal-play, best-ball format for the overall championship and the Adrian "Bud" Foley Trophy. All four better ball scores counted in the team total and handicaps were not applied in the scoring.

Gary Prato and Huey Yang combined for a three-under-par 69 to lead the team to victory in the fourth annual tournament. Bob Blumber and Paul Schoeb finished with a 74. Fred Brower and Jeff Hentz posted an 80 and captain Ed Sheehan and Don Oshiro recorded an 82.

“We have about 25 guys on our team roster and I made it clear at the beginning of the year that we would use our best guys. We came so close last year, I knew we had to improve our B teams, and we did. That elevated us today,” Sheehan said. “Our club really supported us and treated all of our players very well.”

Royce Brook's combined total of 305 was four shots better than Rockaway River Country Club and Montclair Golf Club, which both totaled 309.
