The Golf Club at Oxford Greens in Oxford, Conn. earned high praise from Golfweek, who ranked the course No. 6 on their list of “Best Courses You Can Play In Connecticut.”
Designed by Mark Mangeam, Oxford Greens was directly influenced by Golden Age designers such as C.B. MacDonald and Seth Raynor. Their influence takes center stage on the second hole, which features a Biarritz green where a large chasm dips down in between two plateaus of the green. Another designer that influenced Oxford Greens is Donald Ross, who is famous for turtle back greens and providing many options for how to play shots around the putting surface. Mangeam mixed all of these designer’s personal touches into the holes at Oxford Greens.
Oxford Greens hosted the 2014 Connecticut Public Links Championship and will also host the 2015 Senior Match Play Championship. In the past, the course has hosted the prestigious Connecticut Women’s State Open.
