Making elephant tracks at Berkshire Valley Golf Course

Berkshire 12th Hole

Get stuck enough times in a round of golf, and you start to feel like you're jumping through hoops like a circus lion.

Turns out the circus used to live at Berkshire Valley Golf Course.

The land on which the course was developed was once owned by Barnum and Bailey Circus.

"This was used primarily for storage when the circus was not touring," said director of golf Tony Marino. "The close proximity to train tracks that border the property allowed for easy transportation."

While the circus left town long ago, there are still remnants of its past use.

there are still remnants of the Elephant facilities near the 12th hole.
