FootGolf has been wonderful in attracting thousands upon thousands of non-golfers to golf courses. It's been especially compelling for kids and adults who have some soccer experience, even golfers who are looking to use their feet.
But there's another variation on golf that's starting to gain traction, and Billy Casper Golf's Forest Greens Golf Club is offering a preview of it. It's called FlingGolf. The concept is similar to FootGolf, where it's a derivative of golf. However, the golf ball isn't replaced in FlingGolf. Instead, it's the golf club and associated swing that's replaced with a piece of equipment akin to what you'd see in lacrosse or jai alai. Players use the FlingStick to zip the ball toward the hole, using launch point to control distance and roll. Once on the green, players can use the FlingStick in a way similar to a putter to get the ball in the cup.
Forest Greens Golf Club in Virginia is offering a demo of the concept on Oct. 25. Stop by and give FlingGolf a try!
