East Hartford Golf Club: Restoring a course to its 'good old days'

East Hartford GC 1

A name is a really loaded thing. A name conjures memories and impressions. A name can bring a smile or a scowl to your face.

When Billy Casper Golf came in to manage East Hartford Golf Club on Nov. 1 of last year, the name of the property was changed from Long Hill Country Club back to its original name. That name change has been accompanied by an effort to restore the course to its glory days, including investments in the clubhouse and golf course.

The Creighton Journal-Inquirer recently spent some time at East Hartford G.C., learning about BCG's goals at the club.

“We have people coming in all the time that are so happy. The great thing about East Hartford Golf Course is that people have played here all of their lives. I keep hearing about the good old days,” said general manager Ciaran Carr. “And now we have the opportunity to bring them back by doing the job right.”
