December 2014 has been much better for Chicago golf

What a great putt out on the course!

If you live in the Chicagoland area, you know last December was pretty ugly. Over a foot of snow fell. Temperatures were typically in the 20s. Any hope of some late-in-year golf was shot by awful weather.

This December, however, was much better. There's basically been zero snow, just trace amounts, according to the Chicago Tribune. It's also been a whole lot warmer, with average temperatures some 10 degrees warmer than a year ago. The only thing really missing, apparently, was the sun. For much of the month, weather watchers thought it could be a record December for cloud cover, with the sun shining about 18 percent of the time, according to the Chicago Midway Airport weather team. However, a very sunny day on December 26 saved the month from a dubious record.

Maybe it's a harbinger of mild winter. Let's hope!
